The Serie A players get a longer break than many of their European counterparts with the season kicking off in late August. Joining Internazionale, Sampdoria and Bari in the top division of Italian football this season are Brescia, Cesena and Lecce. The team from the South Lecce, took the title in Serie B last term with Cesena finishing runners-up. Brescia made it to the big time via the playoffs. With just two teams left to battle it out in today’s World Cup Final, all of the other squads have left South Africa and their players have travelled back to their respective homes or taken a well earned holiday. This means that transfer speculation has started to increase as attention now turns to the return of the domestic leagues, which for some leagues in England, is less than four weeks away.
