The MLS is in full-swing with the usual suspects currently topping the Western Conference. LA Galaxay are six points clear of Real Salt Lake at the top. These two sides met in last season’s showpiece final with Salt Lake taking the title on penalties. Looking to shake things up and reach the MLS Cup final in November are Columbus Crew and New York Red Bulls from the East. Both sides have put daylight between themselves and third placed Toronto. Gordon Strachan has returned to his old stomping ground to bring former Ranger’s front man Kris Boyd to the Riverside. The Scottish striker’s goals per game ratio is excellent and he will go straight in to the bookies list of favourites for the season’s top scorer in the league. Boyd who is still only 26, joins Boro with a SPL career record of 164 goals in 296 games. The Championship is probably as competetive as the SPL, and Boyd should settle in well to life in the North East. [Read more...]
