But the fact that only two teams have one hundred per cent records so early in the campaign suggests that the top seven places are very much up for grabs. So it’s welcome back Gillingham and Wycombe, and hello Oxford and Stevenage. Not Stevenage Borough though as I have alluded to previously on this site. Southend and Stockport also return and are no strangers to League 2. The Spireites have a new ground, maybe they can lead from the front this term instead of their fashionable late runs for the playoffs. It’s out with the fizzy drinks, and in with the hot air as npower plant their name over anything and everything Football League. Despite finishing four points off the drop zone last season, if I was a Barnet fan I would be confident of success this term. Mr Kleanthous has done his fellow fans proud bringing Mark Stimson to the club. Stimson equals success, and Gillingham’s decision to end his contract in May was understandable, but possibly short sighted. The former Grays Athletic boss is held in high regard in non-league circles, winning the FA Trophy three seasons in a row with two different clubs. [Read more...]
